As a growing company, we are looking for a skilled Carpenter and Joiner to join our team on a full-time basis.

Job Description: Carpenter and Joiner (Full-Time) Location: Various Locations Across the UK Salary: £14 per hour Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Full-Time) Contract Type: Permanent Reports to: Project Manager/Operations Manager

Job Role:

We are seeking a qualified Carpenter and Joiner who will be responsible for performing a range of carpentry and joinery tasks, contributing to both renovation and maintenance projects across residential properties. The role requires someone with strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be involved in fitting, repairing, and constructing wooden structures and installations such as doors, windows, flooring, furniture, and kitchen fittings.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carpentry & Joinery:
    Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made of wood, plywood, and wallboard, including doors, windows, cabinets, and framework according to project specifications.

  • Renovation Projects:
    Participate in home improvement projects such as kitchen and bathroom renovations, including fitting cupboards, counters, and other wooden elements in compliance with design plans.

  • Maintenance & Repairs:
    Perform routine maintenance tasks such as repairing doors, replacing worn-out wooden features, and general property repairs.

  • Installation & Assembly:
    Assemble and install wood-based items, such as fitted furniture and flooring, ensuring precision and quality workmanship.

  • Interpretation of Plans:
    Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and project plans to ensure carpentry and joinery work aligns with specifications.

  • Collaboration with Other Trades:
    Work closely with other tradespeople, such as electricians, plumbers, and painters, to ensure the seamless execution of renovation and repair projects.

  • Health & Safety Compliance:
    Follow health and safety protocols, ensuring the safe handling of tools, materials, and machinery. Identify potential hazards and take corrective action as needed.

  • Client Communication:
    Liaise with clients, where necessary, to understand their specific requirements, offer expert advice, and provide updates on project progress.

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Required:

    • Proven experience as a Carpenter and Joiner, ideally in both renovation and maintenance settings.

    • In-depth knowledge of carpentry techniques, tools, and materials.

    • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and project plans.

    • Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.

    • Good physical condition and stamina, as the job may involve lifting, standing, and working in confined spaces.

    • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

    • Valid UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).

  • Desirable:

    • Experience in residential renovation and home improvement projects.

    • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or equivalent qualification).

    • Knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.

 

Working Hours and Pay:

  • Full-Time Position:
    37.5 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend work may be required depending on project deadlines.

  • Hourly Rate:
    £14 per hour. Overtime opportunities may be available for urgent projects.
